Cactus Joes las vegas wedding

Super pumped to be sharing images from a recent styled shoot showcasing Cactus Joes In Las Vegas as an outdoor wedding venue.  They have recently done some updates and opened up more of the location for weddings and elopements.

Cactus Joes is about 30 minutes from the center of town.  It is a large location right by the mountains with views of Red Rock.  There are various cacti, such as Saguaro, Cholla, and Joshua Trees.  There are also several other beautiful scenic locations that have no cacti.  There is a ranch house that can be rented out to get ready in as well.  The location is surrounded by desert with beautiful views.   Red Rock has hefty permit fees and lots of restrictions for weddings.  At Cactus Joe’s you can get a similar look, easier and less costly.

P3 Events has done several styled shoots there.  The shoot I took part in had the theme of imagining yourself here.  The same bride in several looks at several different spots on the property.

I am a huge fan of the location.  It is perfect for elopements and intimate weddings.  Almost all desert locations in and around town require permits that can be costly and difficult to obtain.  Cactus Joe’s makes it nice and simple.

Excited to be sharing this Red Rock Country Club Wedding with everyone today, as well as a little bit of upcoming changes.

First off, a little bit about this amazing shoot. I signed up to take part in one of Ruffled blog’s styled social shoots. Styled shots are put on by various vendors in the wedding community to showcase vendors, details, locations, and more. The couple are actually models, and not a real bride and groom.

These shoots give everyone a chance to play around and be creative and showcase some portfolio work. So, while this is very similar to work you would see from me, some things are specific to this shoot. Such as the details. The vendors provided some of the details for styling and I do not own those details. I have a bag with some things, but don’t want any clients seeing these detail shots and thinking that I have all of that to use at your wedding.

The Wedding Day

This wedding shoot took place at Red Rock Country Club. This is my favorite golf course/country club in town. It is gorgeous. The ceremony site is set up to provide pretty good lighting position. And, the head lady in charge is Gina and she is the best.

There was a table set up, ceremony setup, three cakes, several craft cocktails, and more.

Craft LV provided the cocktails and I am telling you, you need to hire them for your wedding or party. They make the best tasting and most beautiful to look at cocktails. Everything I have had from them has been amazing. They have provided drinks for several events I attended this year, and I am a huge fan.

Ashley, with Ashley Creative was the styling genius behind everything for the day. So much beauty and the color palate was right up my alley. Check the bottom of the post for all the incredible vendors.

Announcement / Changes

So, you may notice that these images look a little different from what I typically post. After over a year of stressing myself out and being unhappy with how some of my editing has been, I made the decision to change it up a bit. I love the editing style I have been doing. I am trying to stay as close to that as possible. However, I really taylored my editing around skin tones/color. I wanted my images to have a very warm and specific color to them. To do this, I had to make certain settings that changed various colors in my images. Clients and vendors may have noticed that the colors they chose for their details, attire, and more, would show up slightly different. Even though most people were fine with it, it bothered me. I know people put a lot of thought into their details and colorings.

I have spent so many hours obsessing over trying to get everything perfect and it just always wasn’t working out. So, I decided to change it. I was going to wait a little bit, but what better time then now. This shoot was something I paid to do so I have the freedom to edit how I wanted and play around a bit. So, while I will be making little tweaks and perfecting things along the way, this will be more in line with how my edits will look from here on out.

It has been a really hard decision, but as I continue to grow my business and images must continue to grow with me. Anybody who was hired me, and doesn’t like the way the new edits look, don’t worry. I will be able to edit just like my previous work for you if you wish.

Maybe you don’t even notice a change, maybe you love it, maybe you hate it. Either way, I want to make sure you love your images and I will do my best to provide the best possible final images that you love.

I have been photographing this little cutie and her family for several years. Kamryn is turning 3 and we set up a candid photo shoot with her at a local park in Henderson.

I do not advertise it very much, but I do Children’s Photography in Las Vegas. I photograph kids from sitting on up to teens. With young kids, I just let them kind of do their thing.

Kamryn had her fist real encounter with cat tails at our shoot and she loved playing with them and pulling off all the fuzzy parts. She is the cutest. She even gave me a hug and a kiss at the end of our shoot.

Kamryn is also about to be a big sister and I can’t wait to meet their newest little one. Love you W fam!

Where to begin with this Dancer In The Sand Dunes photo shoot…. This is my third editorial type creative shoot that I have done all on my own. After taking several workshops and hearing from mentors about the importance of creating for yourself. I really have pushed myself to try and do more shoots just to play and have fun.

The last two shoots I have dreamed up, all came to me during a yoga class at my gym. At the gym, especially in yoga, when I try and quiet my mind, I often have creative ideas come up. My last shoot, which you can view here, actually came to my head through a guided meditation that the teacher ended the class with.

Coincidentally, both shoots involved a yoga theme, the color gold, and a woman. The more I practice yoga, the more I try to learn and explore the spiritual side of it as well. The aim of this photo shoot was to try and showcase some of that spiritual side, which is where the mirrors came in.

I knew I needed an experienced yoga/dancer to provide the shapes and movements that I wanted to capture. I am so thankful for Becca who put me in touch with Chelley. Chelley performs in one of the shows on the strip and made this whole shoot what it is.

I sourced all the clothing and ideas for the makeup and warrior look. Francesca with Bobbie Pin Beauty worked her magic and made it come to life.

The day of the shoot, we were faced with extreme winds. Gusts of up to 60 mph. I didn’t want to reschedule so we just went and did it anyhow. The wind and blowing sand made some things impossible and some things much harder to do. I wasn’t able to make some of my ideas happen. But, we made magic anyhow.

Thank you, thank you, to the strong warriors of women who helped me make this shoot happen.

So excited to be sharing this Rainy Day Elopement Las Vegas today.

Ella & Charles live in Croatia. According to Instagram, Ella is a professional vacationer, mom, shoe addict, trend unsetter, award winning hedonist, and now wife. Her and Charles met about 5 years ago, and he knew right away that he wanted to take her away to Vegas to marry her.

The past 3 years they had been trying to organize a wedding, but having families split between Croatia and England made it very difficult. A trip was planned to Mexico in February of this year and they decided, lets get married now. Traveling to Mexico was about as close to Vegas as they would be going any time soon, so it made perfect sense.

Ella had a custom dress designed by Zigman. Zigman is a croatian designer who has dressed people like Niki Minaj among others. So of course the dress was out of this world spectacular. Her dress was a unique post modern victorian dress and it was a work of art.

Ella & Charles are easy going and like to be spontaneous and their wedding day was just that. We didn’t have too many set plans, which actually was a plus since it rained the entire day. Vegas doesn’t rain that often. But, this year has been a bit of a different story. This was one of several days where it rained pretty hard for the entire day.

I loaded up the car with two clear umbrellas and set off for the day. We started in their hotel room at the Venetian. Charles helped Ella into her dress and off we went. Our first stop was the Welcome to Las Vegas sign. Thanks to the rain, it was pretty empty. We had the whole place to ourselves. Typically there are long lines, but not on their day. Next, we headed down to Freemont Street.

Even with umbrellas, rain can be a challenge. Streets are slippery, clothes get water spots, my rain coat doesn’t keep the rain from my lens and view finder. Everything becomes much more complicated. But, the rain also comes with some positives. The streets are pretty empty, not many people walking around. The wet ground also has fun reflections from the lights and surroundings. We definitely made the most of it and shot as much as we could outdoors.

After our photo shoot, they headed to their chapel to make it official.

These two were so much fun to photograph and the photographs are some of my all time favorites.

The Doyle Las Vegas is one of the coolest venues for a wedding that I have come across. I have been wanting to shoot a wedding there for some time. So, when Dogwood Party Rentals asked me to photograph their holiday party, I was all over it.

Dogwood Party Rentals provides furniture and decor rentals in Vegas for weddings and parties. The Doyle has this great industrial type of vibe with a blank canvas.

Dogwood set up a model couple and we did a photo shoot among the decor and also outside.

Another cool thing that the Doyle has is goats and chickens. They let us play with the goats a little bit for some photos. I mean what other venue that looks like this has goats??

So feast your eyes upon some serious eye candy and get a feel for what Dogwood could provide for your wedding or event. And if you want to get married at the Doyle, hire me please!!

Shirrelle reached out to me about wedding photos at the Neon Musem. Her wedding was to take place the weekend of New Years in Vegas. They had put together their wedding in about 7 days!

Thankfully I had availability and so did the neon museum. We were able to do a photo shoot for their wedding, but the day before their actual ceremony.

Shirrelle & Michael got dressed up in their wedding day best and met me for a quick shoot in the North Lot at the museum.
