Last weekend we had my daughter’s 3rd birthday party at our house.  I cannot believe she is 3.  It makes me sad how fast she is growing up.  She didn’t really have much of the terrible twos but I can already tell its going to be some terrible threes.  She has just recently developed an attitude that belongs on a teenage girl.  But when she is sweet she is the sweetest thing ever.

We were fortunate to have some of my in-laws in town for the birthday so we had alot of family from my husband’s side there to celebrate as well as our amazing friends.

The party was Megamind themed because that is her favorite.  They dont sell much so we had to get things online.  My father in law made this amazing pinata.

We also played pin the goatee on the Megamind.  Maddy didnt get it on the right spot and when she took off her blindfold she grabbed it and put it where it was supposed to go.  It was pretty funny.

She sure loves her uncle Mikey.

And her uncle Paul!

Since all of my husband’s brothers, nephews, and parents were at the party we decided to do some family portraits real fast.

You can never trust a Yacksyzn boy when taking pictures.

And this is why…

But we managed to get some good ones with no hitting and no blocking.

On this last one apparently only a few of us heard “Make a funny face”

The party was great, thanks to everyone who came, and to those that didn’t we missed you.  Maddy got so many cute clothes I am kind of glad I have procrastinated on her 3 year photos.

Here is the full post from my most recent children’s portrait session with adorable little Tommy.  If he looks familiar, I did take portraits of him before here.

This little boy is so stinkin cute.  So often kid’s portraits are the most work, since they dont like to look at the camera, but they are also the most rewarding.  We had a great time exploring a new location which I know LOVE.  The cute little doggy in the pics even got a nice little bath in one of the natural springs, haha, good thing Tommy didnt throw him too far.

Meet the 2nd girl from my Boudoir Marathon held at Green Valley Ranch.  Mrs. T

She really did a great job with this shoot.  She had the perfect mix of sultry and fun outfits.  I just love the closeups of her beautiful eyes and eyelashes.  I really love the real laughs and smiles, those are my favorite.

You can also see my cool little hairpiece I made, the black rosettes with feathers, it looks pretty awesome.

One of my favorite props was at the trash the dress session with Valerie.  Her husband brought a Mexican Wrestling mask, so AWESOME.  I never would have thought of that, and it turned out so great on the photos.

So, before your shoot, sit back and think about all the people who are going to be in the pictures and what some things might be that you could bring.  If nothing comes to mind, don’t stress, you really do not have to bring anything but yourselves.

A few ideas for various types of shots are listed below to get your brain going.

Engagement:
-The ring of course.
-Balloons – Maybe in your wedding colors?
-A handmade sign with something painted on it, like the date for save the dates, or a cute little saying.
-Is there something you enjoy as a couple? Riding bikes? Going to the movies? Reading books or getting coffee?  There are so many ideas just in that, your bikes, some popcorn buckets, your favorite books, your favorite coffee shop’s cups.

Maternity:
-Any handmade items that have been made for the baby.
-Ribbon in coordinating color of baby’s sex.
-Wooden blocks to spell out something like baby, or the name.
-Little booties

Baby/Children:
-Their favorite toy(s)
-A special blanket
-A hat or sunglasses
-A tricycle
-A wagon
-Finger Paints

Family:
-If the family is into sports, each member could bring the corresponding item to hold that goes with their sport, like a baseball, or football.
-Umbrellas
-A picnic basket with blanket if shoot is done outdoors

The list goes on and on.  Anything can be used as a prop pretty much and sometimes they really make the pictures stand out.
