Since the last time I shared some features, I have had work published on 3 additional sites.

I have been working hard to get my name out there and am so proud of all of these features.

I have some more coming soon as well that I am excited about.

Feature #1

Kelly & Matt’s awesome wedding which was blogged here was featured on the super awesome PopTastic Bride website.

I love this site and am honored to have my work shown here. It is only possible because of my cool couples though.

Feature #2

Erin & Jonathan’s fun wedding shoot which was originally blogged here was featured on the super cute Bowties And Bliss website.

I knew this session would be a perfect fit for the site with their awesome apparel and his bowtie of course. I loved this couple, they were so much fun, and I got to do my first solo session at the Neon Boneyard!

Feature #3

The third and final feature was from Emily & Jon’s wedding day which was blogged here.

This wedding was featured on the fabulous Destination Inspirations website.

Emily & Jon’s wedding ceremony took place on the balcony of a terrace suite at the MGM which is a great place for a destination wedding.

This was one of my favorite wedding day sessions ever!

Las Vegas Photographer|Best Images of 2011|All My Faves

As 2011 comes to a close, I wanted to share all of my most favorite images from the year. There were so many great sessions this year, it is really hard to narrow it down.

I was so fortunate to meet lots of great people and photograph some wonderful weddings.

It is hard to believe that this specific blog has only been around since early 2011. My old blog was a great starting point, but my new one is much much better.

I can’t wait to see what 2012 has in store for me. I already have some great sessions lined up and lots of changes in store for JamieY Photography.

In 2012 I will be making some changes to my pricing. I will also be focusing more on my favorite types of sessions. I am still offering almost all types of portraits and events, but I will be narrowing down my focus in the early part of this year.

And now for a trip down memory lane…

I really love the above image of Tommy. I used it for one of my sample gallery wraps.

One of many of my daughter. Her faces and expressions are what make the photos so special to me.

Another perfect example of this. Love her faces.

Love when the groom sees his bride for the first time.

I love the sun reflecting off the glass, it was not added in photoshop. I also love all their poses. Such a fun group of girls.

I love so many from this session but I am trying to pick only 1 from a session.

Well ok this wedding gets two. Love both of these.

Gosh that was so hard. There are so many I left out. Usually because I liked the whole shoot a whole bunch but couldn’t narrow it down to one for a favorite.

So, lets just say these are a few of my fav’s.

Chelsea & Josh|Married In Vegas|Fun Pictures on the Strip

Meet the wonderful adorable Chelsea & Josh.

They came to Vegas to get married this month. They had their ceremony at a local chapel so unfortunately for me I didn’t get to see it or photograph it. However, we met up on the strip later that day to get some awesome wedding pictures.

We have had a very mild winter thus far, so thank goodness Chelsea was not too uncomfortably cold.

We walked around to a few different locations to get lots of variety and we ended the session at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign.

Chelsea and Josh have such a great sense of style. I really loved their non-traditional wedding attire. They were also super sweet and fun. Chelsea was probably one of the smiliest (don’t know if that is a word) brides I have met. I love when you can see the happiness and love in a couple. It makes my job so much easier and fun.

I hope your blisters have healed Chelsea and I wish you both the best!

Marianna & Todd Married @ Nelson Ghost Town|Las Vegas Edgy Wedding Photographer

Meet Marianna & Todd! Just over a week ago, I had the honor of photographing their wedding ceremony at the always fabulous Nelson Ghost Town just outside of Las Vegas.

They came all the way from New York city to get married in a very intimate setting with just them, a witness, me, and the awesome officiant Angie from Peachy Keen Unions.

The ceremony was beautiful and emotional, my favorite kind. Afterwards, we had lots of time for fun portraits. I was so excited because of course they were a gorgeous couple and her dress was AMAZING. Nelson can be tricky to walk around at, especially in heels and a beautiful dress that got snagged on some cactus. Luckily nobody got hurt and we got some awesome photos.

Hair and makeup was done by my girl Shelly.

Her eyes are so gorgeous!

Super Fun Wedding|Emily & Jon| 11/11/11|MGM Grand and Terrace Suite|Las Vegas Wedding Photographer

Meet the fabulous couple Emily & Jon. I kinda feel like we were a perfect match. They got married on the lucky day of 11/11/11. I had a wedding booked from a while back for this date. About the same day that Emily emailed seeing if I was available, my other bride informed me that they had to change their plans and were not coming at that time. Although I was sad to hear my first bride wasn’t getting to come for this special day, I was so happy to be able to provide Emily & Jon with my services on the quickly approaching popular day.

I am so super glad they found me. They are the most adorable couple. Firstly, I just loved loved loved their style. When I saw them in their super stylish wedding attire I was immediately excited. They were also super nice and so so happy. Emily was beaming with joy and it was so great to see them so in love. That is truly one of the best parts of my job. They were up for all my crazy ideas for locations and liked my favorite spots as much as I did.

They had literally decided on coming out to get married about 2 weeks prior to the date. 8 close family members made it out for the wedding and the family members were just as nice and friendly as the bride and groom.

The ceremony was held on the balcony of one of the Terrace Suites at the MGM Grand. It was such an amazing view. It was perfect. I got a little choked up during the ceremony. It was very touching to see them so happy and in love.

Congratulations to a fabulous couple.

Tips for Planning Your Photography Timeline on Wedding Day

Most people consider their wedding photography to be a very important aspect of the wedding day. However, if you do not plan for how your time is allocated, you may not end up getting some of the very important shots you really want. Ideally you should work out a timeline with your photographer once you have your ceremony and reception times set. Planning for specific time for the photographs on your special day will help make everything run more smoothly and assure you to get some awesome photos of all the people you want.

Before you book the number of hours you would like your photographer to stay, you should spend some time thinking over the timeline. Booking the photographer from the start time of the ceremony to the end of the reception is not usually the best approach.

A very important thing to decide is wether or not you are going to do a first look. I wrote about the pros of this here. If you decide on doing a first look, it opens up alot of time for photographs before the ceremony. If you decide on a first look you might want to consider having your photographer come 3-4 hours prior to the ceremony. If you are not going to do a first look you should consider 2-1.5 hours before. Getting ready shots are some of the best photographs of the day. The bride getting her dress on and spending time with her girls is a great time for some fun happy candids. If the photographer arrives about 30 minutes before hair and makeup finishes, they can get photos of that process and then have time for pictures of putting on jewlery and getting the dress on. After that, 15 minutes or so can be spent on getting formal photographs of the bride and her female bridal party. If a second shooter is there as well, they can do the same thing with the groom and his guys. If doing a first look, you should then allow for 1 hour of your special bride and groom portraits. These are my favorite and usually the most cherished ones of the day. After that, with the remaining time, the formal wedding party photos can be taken as well as the immediate family and extended family. In this scenario, all of your formals will be taken care of before the ceremony and you will no longer have to worry about it and can spend your time having fun with your guests. Also, travel time to the ceremony location should be taken into account as well. If you have your photographer ride in the limo with you, you can get some great shots in that time as well.

The bride and groom typically must arrive at the ceremony location 15-30 minutes before the start time. During this time the photographer can get set up and ready for the ceremony photos.

If you did not do your bride and groom portraits and/or formals before the ceremony, afterwards is when they will all happen. Depending on the size of your family and bridal party, you should allow for anywhere from 30 minutes for a small group, to 1.5 hours for a large group. After that, ideally you would want 1 hour for bride and groom portraits, but if you are rushed to get to the reception, 30 minutes is about the shortest amount of time you should set aside.

When you have decided on when the formals will take place, that information should be communicated to all of the people you wish to have in the photos before the wedding day. This way they know when they will be needed, so no time is wasted searching for people.

Now for the reception, you may want the photographer there the whole time, especially if you are having an elaborate grand exit. However, it is fairly common for the photographer only to stay the first 2-3 hours. This is when most of the important events happen. I would much rather have an extra hour with you before the wedding then the last hour. You probably wont want as many photos of people dancing in your albums as you will of you and your new husband.

My packages start at 6 hours, but usually that is not enough time. If you have a 4 hour reception, 6 hour coverage will not allow for much time before the ceremony or after if your ceremony is long.

It is way better to have too much time then not enough. There are no do overs and you really dont want to cut yourself short on photos. Your photographs are something you will have forever and will look at often to remind you of this wonderful day.
