Did you know that I photograph destination weddings? I take on a few a year and I really love to get out of Vegas and take beautiful photos in new places.  This wedding took place in Virginia at the Eden Try Winery.  Gorgeous venue, gorgeous couple.

Having A Destination Wedding

Having a destination wedding can be a great way to celebrate your love with your closest friends and family in a beautiful and exotic location. However, it’s important to do your research and plan ahead to make sure that your big day is everything you’ve dreamed of.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when planning a destination wedding:

• Location: The first step is to choose a destination that you and your partner love. Consider the time of year you want to get married, the climate, and the activities available in the area.
• Budget: Destination weddings can be more expensive than traditional weddings, so it’s important to set a budget and stick to it. Be sure to factor in the cost of airfare, accommodations, food, drinks, transportation, and activities.  Depending on location and package chosen, I may have travel fees.  Please inquire for more details.
• Guest list: Destination weddings typically have smaller guest lists than traditional weddings, so be sure to make a list of your must-have guests early on. You may also want to consider having a “no kids” policy to keep costs down.

So, you are thinking about having a destination wedding in New Orleans.  I highly highly recommend it.  I went recently for a content shoot with an amazing group of creatives.  We saw so many parts of the city and got to photograph in several of them.  New Orleans truly is a magical city.  From some of the best food and drinks I have ever had, to just amazing architecture everywhere you look.  New Orleans seems like the perfect place to elope or have a large wedding.

City Park is where our first shoot took place and it is a magical place.  So many trees and beauty all around.  We also had a shoot in an alley on Bourbon Street.  The other locations were the Marigny Opera House, Hotel Peter and Paul, and the Frenchmen Hotel.  There are literally an unbelievable amount of cool places to choose from.

Your typical New Orleans wedding is a church ceremony with a 2nd line afterwards.  But really the sky is the limit there.  I loved it so much and would love to go back to photograph more weddings.  It has been on my vision board for quite awhile.

If you find a photographer that you love, why not hire them to travel out and shoot your wedding for you.  Often times couples feel that they can only choose from locals to shoot their weddings.  I know that me, along with so many others, really enjoy traveling for destination weddings.  While a local may be more familiar with an area, there is also something to be said about a photographer getting to shoot in a new location for the first time.  I love my city and where I photograph, but I equally love to stretch my creative juices and go to new places and have new experiences.

Don’t let location dictate where you get your photographer from if you can’t find the perfect fit, or you have found the perfect fit but they live far away.

Loved this Moody Palm Springs Wedding Photography session with Amarie.  This bridal wedding shoot took place in a rented Airbnb in Palm Springs.

The room where most of the photography took place was decked out in greens and faux plants.  It was like a little jungle in there.  We also took photos in a few of the other themed rooms at the home.

Loved the styling on Amarie.  Her dress was so delicate and fit with the way she moved and posed so well.  Such a magical shoot.

When planning your photography timeline on your wedding, if you want a lot of bridals and shots like this, you need to have extra time booked with your photographer.  I tend to find the most creative freedom when I have a lot of extra time in the day with you.  Getting ready and room shots can be some of my favorite, but it helps when the room is awesome and there is some good lighting.

Yet another Palm Springs Elopement from the content retreat I went to.

As soon as I arrived I was immediately obsessed with this rad vintage golf cart all decked out with the most amazing florals from Flower Disco.

Palm Springs and golf go together pretty great and this was just the cutest elopement shoot ever.

I love how both the bride and groom have visors and the most stylish wedding attire.

The sky is the limit when planning your elopement.

Although I am based in Las Vegas, I travel to California often and am available for most Southern California weddings with little to no travel fee if enough hours are booked.

Palm Springs Elopement

About a month ago, I had the pleasure of heading out to Palm Springs to shoot some Palm Springs Elopement Photography.  I have been fan girling over the content that Ride Or Die retreats puts on.  Totally my type of clients that I love to work with and I have never been to Palm Springs.  I headed out there during a small break in a crazy busy Spring wedding season and I am so glad that I did.

There were several shoots that took place over the two days I was there and I will be blogging them all.  The first one I am sharing is of the badass couple Kenzie & P.

The elopement shoot took place at a really cool, styled airbnb in Palm Springs.  The first room that the photos were taken was a fully pink fur room.  The walls, ceiling, everything was covered in pink.  Kenzie & P were styled impecabily and brought their actual pet snake for the shoot.

I photographed them a little bit in the room before heading outside near the pool.

Loved the energy from these two and everything about the shoot.  If it is just the two of you, having your elopement at a rad airbnb is a great idea.
